Akaroa (Banks Peninsula)

Most of these photos are from hiking the Skyline Circuit track (approx. 8 miles, 2600 ft elevation gain).

The peak in the photo below is the highest point of the hike.

I truly love this sheep.

Moments after the photo below was taken, we accidentally startled the juvenile cow. It then ran to its mother (see next photo)..

The mother (glaring at us in the photo below) watched us for over 10 minutes, even as we climbed higher and higher up the track.

The Southern Alps

This bush put over a dozen splinters in Steve's hand. If you ever see it, stay away!

Back in the town of Akaroa, looking up at the peak we climbed earlier that day. Hell yeah!

The Garden of Tane was really something. It contains three cemeteries and evokes an atmosphere of a spooky fairy tale.

Our legs were tired, so we spent a while enjoying the view of Akaroa Harbor from this spot.
