Tiger Leaping Gorge
May 23, 2008

We only had a few hours so we couldn't hike the length of the gorge. Instead, we took a car to Jane's Guesthouse, and from there we hiked town to Middle Tiger Leaping Stone (where a tiger supposedly leapt from one side of the gorge to another, hence its name) and back. The hike to and from Middle Leaping Stone took us ~3 hours and, unbeknownst to us at the time, is the most difficult part of the gorge to hike.

Andrea setting up the hike with the woman who we hired as a guide (she was very nice and helpful). Note the amazing view from Jane's Guesthouse (where we had lunch)!

Looking very happy about 1 hour before hyperventilating/minor panic attack, and about 2.15 hours before a brief horse ride (long story)...

Where a tiger supposedly leapt from one side of the gorge to another.

The stone the tiger supposedly jumped over ("middle leaping stone").

Complete view of the tiger leaping point.

Andrea bravely pursuing greater heights while I try to regain my composure, ~20 minutes before losing it completely.
